Tree Stump

This tree stump used to live in our back garden; unfortunately when we built our house, this troublesome stump had to be removed. The upshot of this was blood, sweat and tears (and the occasional swear word!). Finally the battle was won and the stump removed but I felt a certain emotional attachment to this natural, beautiful and interesting piece, and so made a pact that this would later become a decorative ornament in our new home. It remained with us throughout the build and eventually I meticulously cleaned and prepared it before finishing it with a clear varnish lacquer, after which my wife decorated it with some discreet fairy lights. It now sits proudly atop the Lounge Cabinet.
